DiCon: Doctor’s Digital Assistant for Intelligent Consultation Using Uipath
The Dicon healthcare app is a powerful AI application and a unique solution to a real-world use case. The objective of our project is to “Leveraging the Power of AI Technology in UiPath” to help Doctors in the critical times so as to avoid cumbersome and repetitive tasks.
Overview
The healthcare industry has the potential to save billions over the coming decade with the recent addition of robotic process automation (RPA) systems in hospitals and clinics . There’s much buzz surrounding the technology because of its ability to automate tedious tasks, paving the way for healthcare workers to focus on high-value work and better-decision making. RPA uses sets of structured data with proper design, planning and governance in order to optimize the value of its intelligent automation framework.
Objective
The pandemic that has been lingering all around us since early 2020 has caused an apparent challenge to the current healthcare system. It is a testament to the new modern demand of digital healthcare. The conventional healthcare system is currently overflown with predominantly Covid-19 patients, exceeding their abilities to facilitate care of other medical patient needs.
The Minimum Viable Product of DiCon app is to create a virtual assistance to healthcare system where the automation benefits patient 24/7 seeking virtual medical assistance, improving overall patient well-being.Patients make their visits to the clinic, laboratory or hospital only when necessary and/or advised by medical professionals.
The Dicon app created for Uipath hackathon. Our team used the following simple steps to successfully planning a project during a hackathon:
- Creating the Design Document
- Prototyping with python based solutions
- Results Checking at regular intervals to attain the desired qualitative accomplishment.
Team of likeminded individuals interested in transforming the patient experience through artificial intelligence and automate information about the healthcare ecosystem explained in detail. We took the opportunity of Uipath Hackathon Automation for Good is UiPath’s initiative aimed at researching, collecting, and inspiring ideas for automation that create a positive impact on society’s wellbeing to better explore that space, and hacking medicine is a great avenue to meet different students and stakeholders in the healthcare system. Over time,we seek Hacking Medicine as an awesome opportunity and platform to drive innovation in healthcare, on a macro scale. The group has a simple, but elegant methodology that’s highly educational. The design thinking principles that we teach enable participants to take on different healthcare challenges, distill them into their root problems, and then build simple solutions around them that are scalable for business.
Business Challenge:
We review the latest literature and ask the community and industry thought leaders to determine what the most pressing issues in healthcare are considered with essential features. Breaking the stereotype methodology,We tend to come up with state of the art technology Uipath platform is the right choice for our team to build Healthcare solution so intuitive in solving a relevant business problem. During the present situation out-of-the-box attended automation is the need of the hour designed to benefit the people of society with a unique personal assistant healthcare /automation is developed.
We develop end-to-end solutions that stretch the AI Imaginative boundaries of how the UiPath platform is used to solve real, impactful challenge. We can also use UiPath partner technologies to supplement your automation ideas with Chatbots, APIs etc.
Solution Approach :
The goal of our project is to address a Healthcare problem, brainstorm potential solutions to it, and test those solutions to the point of failure. If an idea holds up, then you build a prototype or ‘minimum viable product’ (MVP) of it to present. An MVP is a working prototype of your idea: it may not have all the features or polish you’d expect in the final product, but it demonstrates the core premise of your idea.
Our UiPath solution will act as Artificial Intelligent assistant for doctors to diagnose patient symptoms and illness.Over millions of human resources are being involved in a task/activities for scheduling appointments. However, a Simple chatbot and AI-driven assistant can help doctors to do it more efficiently and economically.
We build multiple automated processes that will take care of
- The appointment booking process,
- Prescription generation and prescription translation
- Sending list of doctor prescribed medicines links to purchase them directly online.
Chatbot will work from the initial steps, starting with a conversation with the end user patient to determine whether he/she needs a doctor appointment or not. Upon user confirmation, chatbot will gather all the necessary information from user including patient name, age, email, phone number, symptoms.
UiPath AiCenter with its healthcare model will analyze the symptoms and provide prognosis of the illness.
A task will be created in UiPath Action center with all patient and related prognosis information.
Doctor can update information if required and prescribe medicines and tests in UiPath Form Task.
UiPath bot will generate the prescription report and can translate it to user specified language using UiPath AiCenter language translator model and share back to the doctor for authorization his signature using DocuSign.
UiPath bot will send the final approved prescription report to the user along with next consultation date recommended.

Conclusion/Discussion:
UIPATH RPA offering great benefit to health care professionals . While the technology is reducing overhead costs and boosting ROI for hospitals and clinics, its true value lies in the ability to improve patient care and treatment. DiCon successfully designed, prototyped, deployed and developed an end-to end-system Doctor’s Digital Assistant for Intelligent Consultation and output purposeful insights in a centralized fashion. We trust that this tool, in its mature phase, will bring answers and guidance to patients in the management of their disease. We also think that the community will feel empowered to share their knowledge and contribute to a repositository that benefits, above all, the community itself.
